NYY/VV LV Copper Power Cable

Release time:2021-05-15

Copper Core PVC Insulated And PVC Sheathed Power Cable

Product Description:
NYY cable is a very commonly used power cable. Its function is the same as N2XY cable most of the time. Although the overall performance is not as good as N2XY cable, and it is gradually replaced by N2XY cable, it is still available in many fields due to its relatively low price. Wide range of applications.

Product Structure:
Conductor: copper conductor
Insulation layer: PVC
Filling layer: relatively soft nylon material, in order to prevent direct contact and extrusion between the inner conductors of the cable
Sheath layer: polyvinyl chloride

Executive standard: GB/T 12706.1-2008;
Rated voltage: generally 0.6/1KV, or below 35kv;
Working temperature: The long-term working temperature should not exceed 70℃, and the laying temperature should not be lower than 0℃; the maximum allowable temperature of the cable conductor is 160℃ when short-circuited (the longest duration does not exceed 5s);
Allowable bending radius: not less than 10 times the outer diameter of the cable;
Uses: Generally used as a power transmission hub, often buried in the soil or indoors, trenches, tunnels, the insulation distance between lines is small, no poles are needed, and it occupies a small area and basically does not take up space on the ground.

Common specifications and models:
The number of cores includes 2 cores, 3 cores, 4 cores, 5 cores, 3+1, 3+2, 4+1;
The cross-section includes from 1.5 mm2 to 240mm2. For example, 3*95+1*50 cable represents a cable composed of 3 strands of 95 square cores plus 1 strand of 50 square cores, and other synonymous.

The difference between N2XY cable and NYY cable:
1. Different insulation materials
The insulating material used in N2XY cable is cross-linked polyethylene, while NYY cable is made of polyvinyl chloride. Since the insulation of the N2XY cable does not contain chlorine, it will not produce a large amount of chlorine gas (chlorine is a toxic gas) during combustion. In comparison between the two, cross-linked polyethylene insulation has stronger high temperature resistance, is more environmentally friendly, and has better performance than ordinary PVC.
2. Different working temperature
Conventional N2XY cable allows the maximum operating temperature of 90°C, and the maximum temperature does not exceed 250°C when short-circuited (within 5 seconds); conventional NYY cables allow the maximum operating temperature to be around 65°C, and the maximum temperature does not exceed 160°C when short-circuited (within 5 seconds) . The difference in maximum operating temperature determines that N2XY has a higher current carrying capacity, and also determines that N2XY cable is better than NYY cable in terms of overall performance.
2. Different working voltage range
Normally, the working voltage range of N2XY cable is 6~500KV, while NYY cable is 1~6KV. Therefore, NYY cables are generally used in low-voltage environments, while N2XY covers high, medium and low-voltage environments. This is why the N2XY cable manufacturing process requires higher levels.
3. Price and lifespan
With the same specifications and models, the price of N2XY cable is slightly more expensive than that of NYY, which may be the reason why N2XY cable still exists. However, N2XY has a longer service life, and is more resistant to high temperatures and safer. In terms of long-term and safety factors, it is more cost-effective to use N2XY cables.
Finally, residential projects are recommended to choose N2XY cable, which is safer and more environmentally friendly. If the budget is really limited, you can choose to use NYY cables in places where non-human settlements and voltage and temperature requirements are not high.
